PAPR Reduction of OFDM Signals Using Deliberate Clipping and Pre-scrambling Technique

Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) is considered to be a promising technique against the multipath fading channel for wireless communications. One of the disadvantages of OFDM is peak to average power ratio (PAPR) problem. In this paper, we analyze a PAPR reduction system which combines a selected mapping technique (SLM) and a deliberate clipping technique. The numerical analysis and computer simulation show that the system has effective PAPR reduction capability, moderate system complexity and reasonable bit error rate (BER) performance.
